It’s nothing new. I’m sure you’ve heard about fiber and the importance of incorporating it into your diet at some point in time. So, what is it and why all the hype?? Fiber is actually a carbohydrate that the body cannot digest. Unlike most carbs that are broken down into sugars as they’re digested, fiber moves through the intestines, stimulating the bowel to help you feel full, all the while slowing the rate of sugar being absorbed into the bloodstream. Slowing the absorption of sugar keeps blood glucose (sugar) levels from rising too fast! Regulating blood sugar helps prevent overeating, which in turn curbs weight gain, and most importantly, the risk of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease!
Next week I’ll talk about the types of fiber and my recommendations! I didn’t want to overload you with too much info all at once!
Please let me know if you have any questions!
